The hotel is fine, to a point but there is a major construction site next to the hotel which actually joins the two buildings together. 7am started with hammers, drills and noise totally unacceptable, when I rung reception i was shocked to be informed they didn't know anything about the works saying they didn't have any works planned for the day. i later found out the building site had been going on for sometime with a huge crane above the hotel still working and major works still ongoing. Clearly the hotel doesn't want to inform potential customers of this nor lose any further business by saying so. Breakfast was spent listening to a building site in full swing and when i complained I received a very helpful statement from the Manger telling me they are acting under the local Council guide lines. Couldn't make it up!!

Excellent stay with some of the loveliest staff we have ever experienced. Some of the decor in the residential floors needs updated but otherwise couldn’t be faulted. Will return

Oasis of Calm in a Busy City

Pros: We liked the location, close to the park and near very good restaurants. It felt very safe and calm.
Cons: The chairs in the room could be better for added comfort.
Location: A bus stop was very nearby with 4 buses that you could catch into the city centre. Gates from the hotel open straight into the Herbert Park.
We stayed for 3 nights on a room only basis. All the staff that we encountered were delightful, friendly and very helpful. The rooms were very spacious with a huge bed and seating area. The view from the room was over heating and air con ducting but this did not bother us. Heating and air con in the room worked well. Complimentary water was provided each day and there was a nesspresso machine which made good coffee. We ate twice in the Bar/lounge and had lovely meals.
