A chain of events for a rubbish night. Check in was fine, the reception staff were friendly and helpful, however I was told water was off so I couldn’t make a brew or have a shower until later that day. I was given the key to my room, 164. I walked up the staircase, clicked my keycard against the door and was first hit by the smell of stale water. I stepped inside to a soaking wet towel on the floor, along with some used toiletries, no worries, I’ll call reception and ask them to take this away, the cleaners must’ve forgot on room change over. So I called reception, which rang for so long I gave up. I moved the towel to the chest of drawers near the door, however the floor was drenched as the towel was dripping wet through, still stinking. About an hour later, I headed out for tea, so popped by the reception to ask for the towel to be cleared and some air freshener “no problem sir”. I arrived back at 8.50 as wanted to get an early night, headed straight up to my room, to be greated by the the smell and of course the towel. So I went back down to reception to ask again, I’m not bothered about the towel more the smell. So at 9.40 the receptionist herself finally appears, I asked for replacement toiletries to replace the used ones that hadn’t been replenished, 10.20pm they arrived, a lovely early night. Fast forward an ok sleep (pillow was comfy to be fair), and at precisely 6.04am I was awoke by a cleaner utilising a dustpan and brush to pick up each individual sweep from

location is good Room 358 needs complete refurb,carpets stained,curtains with holes,furniture old and scratched,bathroom without bath ok

Lovely hotel in the center of Exter. Good facility, friendly and professional staff. Will definitely come back again to visit more that side of the country.
