Lovely hotel, very helpful staff. Swimming pool was excellent. Minor gripes - no iron in the room and no door on the bathroom (only toilet door)! Would definitely stay there again.

Great location, lovely hotel

Pros: Lovely hotel, great location with very nice helpful staff and very good daily breakfast. Nice pool and spa area.
Cons: wi-fi was simply not powerful enough to cope with demand at busy times, not good enough I'm afraid !!
Location: Right in the heart of Budapest and walk outside to find everything going on a few meters away, and easy access from the metro/airport link as well
Lovely hotel, great location with very nice helpful staff and very good daily breakfast. Nice pool and spa area. Overall really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend to others, and was overall incredible value for money.

Disappointed

We booked a 3 night stay in the hotel based on reviews online. It was easy to get to from the airport situated only a short walk away from the metro. It was close to the Basilica where the big red bus tour departs from, which was also handy. The foyer is lovely and our check in went smoothly. Unfortunately,Immediately after entering the room disappointment set in as the room itself was tiny, roasting and worse than that the bed was attached to the wall! Now I was not expecting a palace but never have I booked a room where one if us had to sleep against a wall. I went downstairs to ask for a new room and was rudely told no!! Only for me standing my ground and refusing to move until this was dealt with did the receptionist inform me that the hotel was infact fully booked. She offered me free entry to the spa for the duration of my stay. I informed her that I was on holiday to see the sights and not the pool but this was the best she could do. I was NOT impressed!! Soon after this I had to call reception again to ask for a fan as the room had not cooled at all despite having the aircon blowing for almost 30 minutes. (It had broken and this was not mentioned during check in so I had blown hot air in the already roasting room instead) We had no window to the outside but one that opened into the foyer of the hotel so no breeze or fresh air could be found. We didn't get much sleep that night due to the heat but luckily I spoke to another receptionist the following morning who informed me that they could actually move us to a different room with a window and a bed that both of us could get in an out of without having to climb over each other. Thankfully because of the second receptionist our holiday improved and my attitude towards the hotel lightened. Saying that, I wouldn't stay here again.

Style over substance

Booked a double room and on arrival our expectations were high because the opulent lobby with expensive art works with certificates of value gave the impression of a luxury location. The illuminated panel outside the room said superior and it was a very large room with sloping ceiling but twin beds. We spoke to reception who said we were in a triple room even so they sent up housekeeping who removed a side table and pushed the beds together. They couldn't move us because the hotel was fully booked. The beds were really low and just mattresses on blocks. There were no drawers just a long side board with cupboards. The WiFi was ok when it connected. Our biggest concern was the bathroom, very nicely decorated with tiled floors and butler sink but no shower glass so the floor became a hazard. There was no vanity shelf for our toiletries but there had been as some point. There were no fire escape maps on any door. The door would only shut if you slammed it. The furnishings in the common areas were fantastic and there was a huge chandelier that must have been 4 floors deep adorning the atrium. Breakfast was in a beautiful dining room and although at first glance seemed to be well stocked was on closer inspection not refilled when things ran out. It was almost too much for the staff to find spoons and other cutlery. They were very sullen and unhelpful. The swimming pool and spa was on the same level and the heat in the whole area was overbearing. After breakfast we spoke with the General Manager who allocated us a double room that had a bath with shower glass and shelf but it was so small and the right hand side of the bed was flat against the wall with the other side having the bed side light. Is it an Eastern European thing that there is no double duvet available? The mattress was dead and the towels were paper thin even though they were embossed with President Hotel throughout. The walls to room were paper thin so even people whispering in the corridor were heard. When the doors were shut the whole wall against the bed reverberated. We gave breakfast a miss on the second morning and went to a lovely bakery right next door instead. Positives were the location to the city and the river and we managed to see almost all the sights.

Awesome romantic stay

The hotel is located within walking distance to the best bars, restaurants and touristic places in Budapest. Highly recommended!

Hyvä hotelli, loistava sijainti, rauhallinen, kattoterassilta upeat näkymät yli Budapestin! Hyvät sängyt, kokolattiamatoista pieni -. Meillä huone sijaitsi "uudessa osassa", jossa ei ollut ikkunoita ulos, vaan sisällä olevalle "atriumille". Luonnonvaloa jäimme kaipaamaan! Aamupala monipuolinen, sauna ja uima-allas ok, puku -ja pesutilat hiukan kömpelöt, laattalattia todella liukas. Kokonaisarvosana 9 :)
