The hotel is quite nice upon entering and it is in a great, peaceful location. My room was tidy when I checked in but upon closer inspection you notice several things that need improvement. The lampshades and even the wall over the bed were dusty. The curtains were dirty/stained. The mattress feels very old and used as it sags towards the middle of the bed so it's not comfortable with two people sleeping there. The bathroom was fine but it suffers from false advertising as the shower should be advertised as a dripper. Its very low pressure so you have to be under this micro waterfall for about 30 minutes in order to get properly washed. Additionally the fan in the bathroom didn't work. The floor creaks a bit and the room entrance door was hard to close due to being slanted in relation to the door frame. This can give the room a bit of a personality so I didn't really mind the floor and the door. What really disappointed me was the uncleanliness and the problems with the bed and the shower.

Reasonably priced hotel near the lakes distillery

We booked this hotel due to it’s close proximity to the lakes distillery as we were booked on a tour there. We stayed for one night in an executive room. The room was well presented and clean. It was a good size & was adequate for our stay. It can be quite difficult to find a reasonably priced hotel to stay for one night on a weekend in the lakes, so this hotel was perfect.

Nice hotel with a beautiful garden with only 1 -

Hotel is very nice and staff who work in it are very nice and helpful people. The only thing that wasn't nice was the food in the restaurant. I won't recommend eating in there and instead finding somewhere else to eat. I would however stay in this hotel again.

Picturesque views of surrounding Lake District

My mother uses a wheelchair quite a lot, but luckily can get out and walk, otherwise the conservatory would have been out of bounds, as would the attached bar area ( unless we had gone around the outside of the hotel). This should be made clear on the website. Also it was difficult to get through the doors whilst pushing a wheelchair, and there are stairs everywhere. Fine hotel if you are able bodied.

In the most beautiful area in the world , NO VIEW

Pros: It was an Hotel which doesn't stand out.
Cons: It does not inspire us to return , and the cost of Breakfast , you are Joking !
Location: Wonderful . The most beautiful place in the world.
Nothing sets this apart as special . You have asked for more . There is NOTHING WHICH SETS THE HOTEL APART . GOT IT?

Disappointed

Room no kettle. Request booked single beds. Informed no staff to address concerns. Moved room to address concern. Request food at bar when requested to sign for food humiliated by staff member in front of guests stating I did not have the authorisation to access this further delay to check with reception left me disgusted when the problem was clearly reception not addressing the change of room due to inadequate facilities provided. Let down embarrassed. Did not make a fuss simply left.

Disappointingly Dismayed

I was very much looking forward to this trip and this hotel was a complete let down. I did not sleep! Our room is out to the far side of the hotel and has d a front door with glass panels that let the light shine through straight onto your face. It was not well soundproofed as you can hear every rustle of the wind. Furthermore we were next to a room that created regular intermittent (but for significant and disturbing periods) noise - I think it was the boiler! We were disappointed as we approached the room after checking in - the first glance is of three laundry trolleys full of bags that lines the outer side of our room building. Ridiculous! We felt we had been shoved outside like unwanted dirty laundry because we did not book through their site! The jacuzzi was broken and we told it had been for some time but no one had come to repair it. If we had known about this we would not have booked as a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were imperative as we are in the Lakes for a Sporting Event. Hence sleep and relaxation was important but not achieved when today is very important. The pool was not warm, the steam room was not working properly either. The welcome tray in the room was minimal - usually they are much more generous! The food was overpriced. We were duped as we booked thinking we had got breakfast included as was same price as on another website where I had originally found the hotel - however we were shocked on arrival that we had paid the same price and got less plus a terrible room and poor facilities. We opted not to pay extra and already have not achieved value for money. I am so upset at this. I expected better. It has ruined half our trip. To make matters worse - this room is so far away from the main bedrooms that wifi cannot reach!!! Our mobile reception was poor - non existent and the free wifi cannot be reached adequately. We are having to use our mobile dongle from home. Thank goodness we brought it!!! This room needs reviewing by a Best Western Site Manager and we have told customer services who are going to investigate. I would also suggest that the website pictures give the impression of being placed on the Lake - we'll that is far from the truth.
