Try somewhere else if you can

I wouldn't go again and I don't recommend it to anyone. The room smelled like cigarettes. Someone left the iron on its side in the wardrobe, and the water spilled out everywhere and soaked my shoes. This also meant that we could not unpack during our stay. Although I reported this to the front desk, no action was taken to clean it up. Also the toilet we had runs and made noise endlessly. The decor is unappealing and the bed is uncomfortable. We opted to relax in a local coffee shop rather than spend any time in our room. This quality of room would be suitable if you just needed to get some sleep and it was substantially cheaper. However, I suspect if you are visiting Portsmouth, you are there for leisure and want comfort. I previously stayed at the hotel just across the street and really enjoyed my stay there. It was fully booked when I needed it and that's why I booked this place. If you can avoid it, do.
